Background of the Office of Arts and Culture

       


    

The Office of Arts and Culture, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University is currently located at Building No. 22, Faculty of Science and Technology. The Office of Arts and Culture is responsible for providing tour services to all 4 buildings which are Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building Museum and Rattanakosin Building 3 consisting of Juthan Rattanaporn Building, Arththipayaniwat Building and Uean Arch Thawan Building, and a tunnel under Phra Nang Hill. 

These places are learning center presenting the life of the inner court within the area of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. In addition, arts and cultural exhibitions and activities are organized in the buildings for those who are interested.  


The Office of Arts and Culture has been progressively developed as follows:

B.E. 2523 (1980): Arts and Culture Center, Suan Sunandha Teachers College was approved to establish according to the announcement of the Ministry of Education. It was opened for the first time on November 10, B.E. 2523 (1980). The objective of the center is to organize arts and cultural exhibitions and activities. 

12 March B.E. 2530 (1987): Arts and Culture Center, Suan Sunandha Teachers College was established as a government office equivalent to a faculty. 

4 January B.E. 2533 (1990): Princess Sirindhorn Debaratanasuda Kitivadhanadulsobhak presided over the opening ceremony of the Arts and Culture Center at Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building.

B.E. 2538 (1995): Suan Sunandha Teachers College was changed status to be “Suan Sunandha Rajabhat Institute” according to the Rajabhat Institute Act and had elevated the Arts and Culture Center to be the Office of Arts and Culture (OAC) located at Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building. It was a unit according to the institute’s structure.

10 June B.E. 2547 (2004): Suan Sunandha Rajabhat Institute was changed its status to “Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University” according to the Rajabhat University Act. The Office of Arts and Culture was a unit according to the university’s structure.

B.E. 2548 (2005): The palace was undergone a major renovation and completely renovated to be a museum for learning arts and culture of Rattanakosin era.

B.E. 2555 (2012): Chudharatanabhorn Building, Adorn Dibyanivas Building and Auan Achava Dhamdhawalaya Building were renovated to exhibit music, Thai dance and visual arts.

B.E. 2557 (2014): The upper floor of Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building was developed to be Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building Museum.

B.E. 2564 (2021): The ground floor of Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building was developed to be an exhibition simulating the way of life of the royal court.

B.E. 2562 (2019) – Present: The Office of Arts and Culture has been relocated into Building 22, Faculty of Sciences and Technology.


At OAC Executive and Personnel Meeting on 5 February B.E. 2564 (2021), the Office of Arts and Culture announced the declaration of honest intention to perform duties with integrity and transparency as follows:

  • Honestly disclose information that could be audited, and provide opportunities for stakeholders to participate in the operations of the Office of Arts and Culture,
  • Focus on working with full efficiency for highest effectiveness, and be prepared to take responsibility for the operation,  
  • Have morality and professional ethics, and think of common interests rather than personal interests,
  • Raise awareness and value in anti-corruption among staff and students, and
Strictly operate in accordance with legal procedures, rules, regulations, manuals and standards based on accuracy, fairness and non-discrimination.
