Arts and Culture Online Exhibition: “Time’s Journal: The Flowers in Paintings” Part IV
Water Color Painting
“Mon painted for all her life while Saisavali Bhiromya stayed at the Palace. Mon studied at Saint Joseph Convent. Without taking any art classes, she managed to excel at painting. Maybe it was because Saisavali assigned her to the job and she was afraid of getting punished so she had to make the paintings as real as possible. Sometimes it took 10 attempts to excel a single blossom. Eventually, her painting technique was superb. Saisavali allowed her to stay at the orchid farm,” stated Nueng Nil-ratana, Saisavali’s lady-in-waiting.
