The History of Her Highness Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, the Royal Consort of King Rama V (Part I)

H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, Princess Suddhasininart, whose Thai full style in Romanized script is Pha Vimada Ther Phra Ong Chao Saisavali Bhiromya, Krom Phra Suddhasininart Piya Maharaj Padivarada, was born on Friday, 6th waning moon, the 9th lunar month, Year of the Pig, coresspending to 4th September 1863 in the Gregorian calendar. She is the daughter of H.R.H. Prince Ladavalya, Prince Bhumindra Bhakdi (head of the Ladavalya Royal Family) and Chao Chom Manda Chin (Chin, Grandmother of Royal Children, as latterly invested).

Upon her birth, she was styled Mom Chao (Her Serene highness, a noble title bestowed on a ‘child of King’s son’), which coupled with a personal name became known as Mom Chao Sai, her maiden name’ H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, Princess Suddhasininart has two other sisters born to the same mother, namely: H.H, Princess Ubolratana Narinaga, Princess Argavoraraja Kalya (née Mom Chao Bua), and H.H. Princess Saovabhark Nariratana, (née Mom Chao Pio)



Upon being later elevated, along with H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, Princess Suddhasininarts’ two sisters, into the royal favour the King’s consort, she would be referred to, among relatives and acquaintances as Pra Akra Jaya Phra Ong Lek or Than Ong Lek (Her Principal Royal Consort Little Lady Ship).

In 1888 the King invested her with the official title, H.H. Princess Saisavali Bhiromya, Princess Suddhasininart. She bore His Majesty one son and three daughters. They were: H.R.H. Prince Yugala Dighamabara, Prince of Lopburi; H.R.H. Princesss Nabhachorn Chamras Sri; H.R.H. Princess Malini Nobhadara, Princess of Sri Sajanalaya and H.R.H. Princess Nibha Nobhadol, Princess of Udong
