Her Royal Highness
Princess Sai Savali Bhirom, Krom Phra
Sutthasininat Piyamaharaj Padiwarada,
was extremely strict and meticulous in
her work. All the ladies-in-waiting had
work to do all day long. It was said of
Her Royal Highness, “She was very
meticulous; she had work from morning
till night. She always found things to
do. Even when we went to school, we had
to go too. When we returned, there was
still work to do. She never let us be
idle because she never took a nap during
the day. She always found things for the
ladies-in-waiting to do, dismantling
this and fixing that. Pages were allowed
in and out, for example, to clean,
dismantle, and lift heavy objects. A
regular daily task was making garlands
and flower arrangements, as Suan
Sunantha had many
flowers.”
Her Royal
Highness would supervise and guide the
ladies-in-waiting to arrange flowers and
make beautiful garlands. It became
evident that the ladies-in-waiting in
Her Royal Highness's residence were
regularly assigned the task of making
garlands for royal ceremonies at the
Grand Palace, such as garlands for the
royal sword, numerous large chandeliers,
floral arrangements, and other
decorative stitches.
Within the
grounds of Suan Sunantha…
Numerous flowers are planted throughout
the grounds. Every palace is beautifully
adorned with flowering and foliage
plants. The most important flowering
plants are roses and orchids, of all
kinds and varieties. In particular,
there are hundreds of rose bushes, and a
large orchid greenhouse housing
high-quality orchids from both Thailand
and abroad. The beauty of the flowering
and foliage plants surrounding the
palace, when in bloom, creates a vibrant
display of colors and a fragrant aroma
that permeates the entire area. It can
be said that Suan Sunandha is truly the
center of a kingdom of beauty within a
national park.
