The Office of Arts and Culture, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, recently welcomed Ms. Monthira Pichaichannarong Samakoses and her delegation. Ms. Monthira is the eldest daughter of Mrs. Somnuk Pichaichannarong, who, in 2010, graciously donated a rare antique glass-covered display featuring a peacock and goldfish—an ornamental piece from the Royal Crematorium used in the funeral rites of Her Majesty Queen Sunandha Kumariratana, the Royal Queen Consort.

This glass-covered display was one of many ornaments from the Royal Crematorium. Traditionally, after the cremation ceremonies, such items were bestowed upon individuals or groups who served the monarchy during the rites as a royal memento. Ms. Monthira shared that this piece originally belonged to Thao Nari Worakhannarak (Chao Chom Chaem in the reign of King Rama V). It was subsequently inherited by Mrs. Chorn Chob Samut (Saiyud Krairiksh Ratanakul) and then by Mrs. Somnuk Ratanakul Pichaichannarong—the grandmother and mother of Ms. Monthira, respectively. Mrs. Somnuk donated this precious heirloom to the Saisuddha Nobhadol Building Museum in 2010.

On this occasion, Ms. Monthira and her delegation visited the special rotating exhibition dedicated to Queen Sunandha Kumariratana. She also provided detailed historical accounts regarding the artifact's origins to ensure the museum's records are accurate, while offering guidance and encouragement to the museum’s working team.

Interested members of the public can view this exquisite antique at the exhibition hall within the Saisuddha Nobhadol Building Museum.

ครอบแก้วชิ้นนี้ เป็นหนึ่งในเครื่องประดับพระเมรุจำนวนมากมาย ซึ่งเมื่อเสร็จการพระเมรุแล้ว มักจะพระราชทานให้บุคคล หรือคณะบุคคลต่างๆ ที่มีส่วนร่วมถวายงานสนองพระมหากรุณาธิคุณในการพระเมรุครั้งนั้นไว้เป็นที่ระลึก คุณมนทิรากล่าวว่า ครอบนี้ เดิมเป็นสมบัติของท้าวนารีวรคณารักษ์ (เจ้าจอมแจ่ม ในรัชกาลที่ ๕) แล้วตกทอดมาเป็นสมบัติของ นางจรจบสมุทร (สายหยุด ไกรฤกษ์  รัตนกุล) จนถึงคุณสมนึก รัตนกุล  พิชัยชาญณรงค์ ซึ่งสองท่านนี้คือคุณยาย และคุณแม่ของคุณมนทรานั่นเอง ซึ่งคุณสมนึก รัตนกุล ได้มอบสมบัติชิ้นนี้ให้แก่พิพิธภัณฑ์อาคารสายสุทธานภดล เมื่อปีพ.ศ.๒๕๕๓

ในโอกาสนี้คุณมนทิรา พิชัยชาญณรงค์ สามโกเศศ และคณะ ได้เยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการหมุนเวียน เรื่องสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสุนันทากุมารีรัตน์ พระบรมราชเทวี พร้อมทั้งเล่าเรื่องราวความเป็นมาของโบราณวัตถุชิ้นสำคัญ เพื่อบันทึกไว้เป็นข้อมูลที่ถูกต้อง พร้อมให้คำแนะนำ และให้กำลังใจแก่คณะทำงานของพิพิธภัณฑ์อีกด้วย  สำหรับผู้ที่สนใจสามารถเข้าชมโบราณวัตถุชิ้นนี้ได้ที่ห้องจัดแสดงนิทรรศการ ณ พิพิธภัณฑ์อาคารสายสุทธานภดล
