Participants Fascinate the Process of Making ‘Som – Chun’

‘Som – Chun’ is Thai traditional dessert which made from lychee and other predominantly sweet-and-sour fruits – all float in an aromatic syrup. The first reference to Som-Chun as a dessert appears on the poem named Kap Hae Shom Khreang Khao Wan (กาพย์เห่ชมเครื่องคาวหวาน) which was composed by King Rama II of Siam.
The specialties of this dessert are the aromatic syrup with orange peels and the fascinating look. Som-Chun is a sweet and refreshing summer dessert. It helps us cool down from the summer heat.
In this workshop on 100th Sai Suddha Nobhadol Building Anniversary Exhibition, we are honored by M.L. Darunee Chakraphan, Thai traditional foods specialist who came and taught us a lot of tips and the process of making Som-Chun.
“I appreciated this workshop very much and I looked forward to it. For Som-Chun, I thought some people might not know about it because it was very hard to find. Lastly, I wanted to say thank you to the OAC and all of the officials that held such good activities for us.” said Wassana  Termbun, the workshop participant.
“It was fun today and I also gained a lot of knowledge. Som-Chun was really hard to find because we did not know the authentic taste of this dessert, so today I have learned that and I would also disseminate to other people. Finally, I hope the OAC keeps on organizing great activities.” said Surapha  Sonsri, Thai food and Thai incense lecturer.
