The
Padiwarada Kitchen Project Organizes
“Khlong Yong Chili Paste Making
Contest” to Preserve Thai Culinary
Wisdom and Elevate Local
Identity.
The Office of Arts and
Culture, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat
University, organized the Khlong Yong
Chili Paste Making Contest under the
“Padiwarada Kitchen” project
on June 20, 2026, at Wat Ban Maklua
Community, Phutthamonthon District,
Nakhon Pathom Province. The contest
aimed to promote learning about Thai
culinary wisdom and elevate the local
food identity of the Khlong Yong
community through the transfer of
knowledge regarding flavors, cooking
techniques, and the cultural value of
“chili paste,” a culinary
heritage that reflects the Thai way of
life for a long time.
The contest
was lively, with participants showcasing
their skills in making chili paste from
local ingredients. Evaluation focused on
balance, creativity, ingredient
selection, and presentation that
beautifully reflected the unique
identity of the Khlong Yong
community.
The judging panel
consisted of distinguished experts:
Associate Professor Dr. Preechaya
Sittiphan, Chief Global Learning
Officer, Center for Innovative Learning,
Chulalongkorn University; Mr. Anusorn
Tipayanon, writer and food activist; and
Mr. Teeradon Supaphanphinyo. (Chef Jamie
James) A chef and creator of
contemporary Thai cuisine, who evaluated
entries based on taste, creativity,
selection of local ingredients, and
presentation reflecting the identity of
the Khlong Yong community, in order to
find outstanding chili paste recipes in
terms of taste, wisdom, and potential
for further development as local
cultural heritage.
